Open Mic night will return on the first Thursday in April!
One of the great successes at the Salisbury Arms over the past twelve months has been the ‘open mic’ nights. Normally held on the first Thursday of the month, this gig is hosted by Darren and Russ and is an informal night of acoustic music. The emphasis is very much on ‘have a go’ and there have been increasing numbers of people turning up with instruments (or a voice!) to perform a couple of songs to the very receptive audience. This event has become so popular that the music often runs from 9.00 to 11.00 without a break and can see up to ten different acts take to the stage during the night! So, if you’ve always wanted to perform that song that you’ve sung in the bath for the last ten years, come along and have a go!
Another great thing about the open mic nights is that you’re never really sure who’s going to turn up, or what’s going to happen! On this November night we were treated to around a dozen quality acts and ended up with an ‘Allstars’ finale featuring Chris Tempest and Eloise on vocals, Jo on bass, Darren and Smiffy on guitar, Roly on slide guitar and Russ on mandolin.
