Salisbury Arms Party Nights!

Salisbury Arms party nights have almost become legendary in their own right. Good music, spot prizes, raffles and usually, extended opening hours all make for a great night out.

Some of the annual parties include; St. George’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Jack Daniel’s Birthday Party and Halloween

Halloween 2004 saw the ‘Grateful Undead’ - an incarnation of the Salisbury Allstars - performing a mix of rock standards to a suitable ghoulish audience. As always, the band was joined on stage by various guests - I think on this occasion the stage managed an eleven piece line up at one point!

February 2005 saw Nemesis celebrate their 20th birthday with a special one off acoustic gig at the Salisbury Arms.

After twenty years of touting their wares, it wasn’t surprising that the audience was mostly made up of old friends and fellow musicians!

Amongst the various guests who turned up on the night were Charlie and Alan Rose. Charlie and Alan are well known on the south coast music scene as the driving forces behind ‘State of Undress’ - another band who can be seen at the Salisbury and  who performed sterling work at the 2005 Beer Wine and Music Festival.

Jack Daniel’s Birthday Party night has become one of the favourite annual events hosted by the Salisbury Arms. Held every September, this is the only officially sanctioned JD party in the area. There are loads of JD related raffle prizes, and this years top prize was a superb Jack Daniel’s electric guitar and amplifier supplied by Simply Guitars of New Milton.

This year’s winner of the top raffle prize, Paul cradles his JD guitar in total disbelief! Not a player himself, but he does have a son who looks like he’s in for a treat.

Music was by the ‘Salisbury Allstars’ -  a tongue in cheek name coined many years ago that kinda stuck!

There’s no fixed line-up to the ‘Allstars’, they don’t even rehearse together, they just turn up and play! You won’t find them anywhere else - they’re probably the biggest ‘house band’ in the country, drawing on dozens of local musicians. The line up on this night included; Darren, Smiffy and Paul from ‘Skint’, Russ from ‘Nemesis’, Les Bannister, Roly, JD and Julie.
